Max is a non-fiction writer, leading advocate and academic.

Professor Max du Plessis is a practising Advocate of the High Court in South Africa and a distinguished academic. He is an adjunct professor at the Nelson Mandela University, an honorary research fellow at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Durban, South Africa), and a senior research associate at the Institute for Security Studies (Pretoria, South Africa). 

Max is also an associate tenant at Doughty Street Chambers in London, and an associate fellow at Chatham House, London. He has appeared in seminal cases before the South African Constitutional Court and the International Criminal Court. He consults for NGOs and state organisations, and often speaks at international events and conferences. He lives in Ballito, South Africa, with his family.
