Marcus Low

Marcus Low is a novelist, journalist, and public health specialist based in Cape Town.

He is the editor of the public health magazine SPOTLIGHT and previously worked as policy director of the Treatment Action Campaign. Marcus has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Cape Town and is working on a PhD in Computational Epidemiology at the University of Cape Town.

Low’s debut novel ASYLUM (Pan Macmillan South Africa, Legend Press UK) is an existential literary novel set in a quarantine facility in the arid Karoo area of South Africa. ASYLUM was shortlisted for Africa’s richest literary prize, the 9Mobile Prize for Literature.
