Writer and Filmmaker

Etienne Fourie is a Cape Town–based, award-winning writer and director known for his work on Trompoppie (“Drummie”), Stiekyt (“Stick Out”), Die Windpomp (“The Windmill”), Dis Koue Kos, Skat (“Just Dessert, Dear”), Tydelik Terminaal (“Temporarily Terminal”), Liewe Kersfeesvader (“Dear Santa”), Klein Karoo, and his critically acclaimed debut novel, Man in die Maan (“Man in the Moon”).

In 2021, he won the SAFTA (South African Film and Television Awards) for Best Achievement in Directing TV Drama for Tydelik Terminaal and was nominated for Best Achievement in Writing TV Drama for Trompoppie at the 2024 SAFTAs. His films have been showcased at numerous prestigious international festivals, including the Rotterdam International Film Festival, Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), and Long Beach International Film Festival.
