
Adam Welz is an author, photographer, and filmmaker.
Adam’s work is about nature conservation, climate breakdown and other environmental issues. He’s the author of The End of Eden: Wild Nature in the Age of Climate Breakdown (Bloomsbury 2023) and his journalism and photography appear in international publications such as The Guardian, The Atlantic and Yale Environment 360. He also consults on wild species conservation projects.
Born and raised in Pretoria, he has lived, worked and travelled on four continents. Adam has been a truck driver in England, taught English in Taiwan, backpacked across India, photographed Madagascar, and been a freelance journalist and filmmaker in New York City. He currently lives with his family in Cape Town, where he continues his passion for birding, breeds endangered fish, and is learning to propagate local fynbos plants.
