Jon Dalgaard is an AWGIE-nominated writer and creative producer with bases in Europe and Australia.
His animated series Karyn Splitter: Alien Sitter won the Disney Channel Prize at the 2017 MIFA Pitches in Annecy. The show is currently under option at Cake Entertainment. He is the co-creator, co-writer, and producer of BedHead, a web series and television pilot for ABC which aired on ABC2 and iView. The web series was a grand prize winner at LA Webfest and received an Australian Writer’s Guild nomination.
As well as developing his own shows, Jon also works as a writer for hire on shows including animated series 100% Wolf (ABC Australia, Super RTL), Taffy (Boomerang, Turner), and Smighties (YouTube Kids, Discovery). Jon forms part of an Oscar- and Emmy-nominated writing stable at Baboon Animation USA.
Jon graduated from the AFTRS screenwriting program and holds a Film and American Studies degree from the University of East Anglia.
Before becoming a writer Jon worked as a development executive for producer Deborah Balderstone, working on a feature slate part-funded by Working Title. He spent five years working for Lionsgate, in the UK and then Australia, where he released films and series such as ‘Good Night and Good Luck’, ‘The Lives of Others’, ‘Weeds’ , and ‘Mad Men’ among others.
